Stay Focused on VBS In a Time When Kids Need It Most

You can accomplish amazing things!

Just look back at the last few weeks and you’ll realize all the change and chaos you’ve been able to manage in such a short amount of time. VBS is no different. You can pull together way more than you think in less time than you might imagine.

With all the stress and uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation, it’s easy to get distracted and pointed in lots of different directions. For most of us, VBS is relatively far away. Now is the time to get refocused on the goal— and that goal is giving kids an amazing VBS experience in a time they need it the most. This is your moment!

Here are a few suggestions that can help you stay on track with your 2020 VBS. You can do this, and Group will be here to help you, too!

Be flexible!

  • We’re advising churches to continue planning and preparing for VBS—acknowledging that none of us knows what the summer will hold, in terms of whether church gatherings will be possible.
  • In the coming weeks, if we see that churches will be restricted from meeting in the summer months, we will be ready at that time with VBS instructions and copyright permissions to transition your VBS online. But that’s a ways off.

Keep planning!

  • We advise you to keep planning, keep gathering all your materials, and be ready to do VBS as normal. You’ll need the same VBS things if it eventually goes online anyway.

Pick a back-up date!

  • If you haven’t yet done so, we advise you to find a couple of alternate weeks later in the summer to do your VBS, in case restrictions ease midsummer. Be prepared to make calendar adjustments for your church’s most important summer ministry event!

Rocky Railway will steam through 2020 and 2021!

  • Group will continue to carry Rocky Railway VBS in 2021, while supplies last.
  • Returns of any unused items will be extended according to when you do your Rocky Railway VBS in 2020 or 2021.
